Hi and I always hope that my audience is always doing great! -Labyrinth.

The Basics

Labyrinth. A word that has always been stuck in my head ever since reading the series by Percy Jackson (shout out to Rick Riordan). Both the meaning, and sound of the word attracted me. Since then, I have always used this word as a pseudonym or pen name. Annia Bersabal is my real name. I am a visual artist who is still in the beginning process of honing my skills and finding my path as an artist. As a visual artist, I have always been attracted to dark-themed and psychotic art, which will be abundant on this site.

Artwork, Photography, etc.

Now, the presented art below are all created by your truly! Simple as some of it may seem but I have worked hard on every single piece.

  • Digital Art

I started as a traditional artist, which taught me so much as a virtual artist, but now I am happily going through my journey into digital art! I am still new to digital art as I still have much to learn. Digital art is truly a challenge, as a lot of people are now trying this practice, especially when the pandemic came. It is no shock to artists how competitive and a struggle it is to compete in an online business such as art commissions, branding, etc.

Fun fact: The artwork below is the first ever artwork I ever did to have a title!

  • Traditional Art

As I have said, Traditional Art was my ground zero in art. The feeling of creating a traditional art still feels different, a more wonderful feeling of seeing the product done with my hands.

  • Photography

Photography is still a new thing for me as I am currently learning the basics of it just this year. This art form was not an interest of mine before, but getting my hands to actually take photos, not just for fun but as an academic requirement, made me realize the fun and beauty in photography.

I hope to continue this and own a DSLR someday.

Artists that needs recognition, aka artists that inspired Labyrinth

"To tell a story is to make them feel and think. Yes, aesthetic is a big part as to gain, but it is more spiritually and mentally provoking to have that imagery that comes with a deep analyzation from your viewers. It feels great to see that response" -Labyrinth

A lot of incredible artists inspired me and led me to the creative style I have right now. Most of these great artists are not well known to most people, but they need more recognition. Their styles vary, but they fall into the same theme of dark and psychotic approach.

  • Takato Yamamoto

Japanese art inspired me so much in my creative journey. One of the major influences of a Japanese artist on me is Takato Yamamoto, a Japanese illustrator. It is clear from his works how much he influenced my style.

  • extraweg (Oliver Latta)

This incredible German 3D animator and visual graphics designer creates provocative and unusual visuals that will attract your attention. With his graphics style, he caught my attention, which resulted in him being one of my favorite visual artists. The overall extra concept he incorporates into his outputs is simply enthralling. The use of hues like pink and white, combined with visuals that focus on the strange movements of humans, is one of the main reasons why the aesthetic of his creations is powerful and evocative.

  • Miles Johnston

This traditional artist from the UK works on the human body as his model and medium to represent the internal state. The profundity of his works truly inspires me to create not only to please the eye but also to make your audience think or feel. His work in graphite and oil is something special, as his artwork is visually realistic and dark.

These are the few artists that shaped me and guided me on my creative journey! Their ability to create something so visually pleasing, but also emotionally and mentally ponderous is such a great inspiration for any visual artist. As this tiny space is not enough to introduce such amazing artists, here are the following artists who I am also inspired by.

  • Kim Jung Gi (Korean Graphic Artist/Illustrator)

  • Song Mino (Korean Artists/Performer)

  • Sterling Mills (Photographer)

Enough with the inspirations, let's talk about working advices and activities that really helped me as a student striving during this hard times of academic and pandemic challenge.

Advices from the author

When faced with detrimental things such as the pandemic and mental or emotional problems, our daily lives and coping systems can be damaged. This then can lead to flunking lifestyle and academic performance, which then affect us more. As a college student, these challenges confront me every time that negatively affects me and those of my responsibilities. As a way of coping and getting back on track, these things were what I did to keep track of myself and my habits. It is a tough path to follow, but with the little steps of improvement we do or try for ourselves, we are already a step ahead of what type of person we will be. POMODORO TECHNIQUE

Pomodoro Technique greatly helped me and made me improve my habits. This has been the talk of my mouth, even with my friends, as it is a great tool for improvement. This technique requires discipline and a certain amount of focus. Pomodoro technique is a technique for studying that has intervals between focus time and break time. If practiced consistently, this will improve your focusing abilities, giving you a hand in studying and the ability to focus deeper on whatever task you do. As a starter, here is James Scholz, the almighty one who pushed and inspired me to practice the Pomodoro Technique (and also the one who introduced me to the very educational book called Atomic Habits of James Clear!).

  • READING and WATCHING

Whether it be a novel, a history book, or a documentary, reading or watching educational literature and videos is always beneficial. Getting back to reading helped me to be able to focus and think deeply on the tasks I was confronted with. Especially with reading the news, it not only serves as entertainment, but it makes you think and use your rational thinking by analyzing social issues. Watching videos that involve your mind, such as documentaries or political-related series, exercises your mind even with the entertainment it serves.

The following are the books/literatures that I have been reading:

  • Normal People - Sally Rooney

  • Atomic Habits - James Clear

  • News

  • FIXED SCHEDULES AND ROUTINES

Fixing my routine and habits is a game changer. With the pandemic striking, it took us out of our usual routine, pushing us to abruptly adapt to the new normal, especially with the new normal form of education. This then results in stress and mental challenges for people. But with me slowly but consistently changing my habits and daily routine, it made these days less stressful. To my audience, it is important to remember that we do not have to see the sudden changes, but we do have to see the small improvements we gain for ourselves as we try our best to change the bad habits we used to have. It is important to know who we want to be and to not chase after the abrupt achievements that will not last long if we ourselves, do not improve how we are as a person. It must be a change in habits to build our new and enhanced identity, not just temporary changes that 99% of the time can lead back to those bad habits you used to have. Here is a diagram from Atomic Habits that shows how these changes in habits affect our over-all self-improvement.

Finally, make sure to find your own way of doing things that works for you.It is important to know what works for us and what not, just like in working out. The major point is that you seek betterment. It is important that we know who we want to be, what kind of person we want to be, and that will then lead us in our lives.
